The motive for the study visit to Bavarian Youth Hostels was the partnership agreement between Croatian Youth Hostel Association and the City of Osijek by which CYHA received a protected cultural heritage building in Osijek to refurbish it into a youth hostel. The study visit was focused on youth hostels located in protected heritage buildings and castles.
Three fantastic Bavarian Youth Hostels were visited: Passau Youth Hostel, Burg Wernfels Youth Hostel and the Berchtesgarden Youth Hostel. The central point of the programme was the meeting in Nürnberg with the president of the Bavarian YHA Dr. Helmut Wittmann, the representatives of Denkmalschutz, the German fondation for the protection of heritage monuments and the architects responsible for the refurbishment of the impressive castle / youth hostel in Nürnberg.

International Dark Sky Week at the Astronomy Centre Rijeka
The Astronomy Centre Rijeka is organising this year’s Dark Sky Week, an event taking place from 17th until 20th April 2012.
A presentation called Rhythm of Life – Modern Technologies for Development and Environmental Protection will be held in the Great Hall.
Visitors will also have the possibility of seeing Best Astrophotography, an exhibition held in the premises of the Centre, under the auspices of the British Council in Croatia.
