Veli Lošinj, a small harbor town on the Isle of Losinj in the Kvarner Gulf was created in the latter part of the Middle Ages as a settlement of Croat sheep herders. Towards the end of the 15th century it was fortified and secured against piracy by the Republic of Venice.
Not so long ago it used to welcome crowned heads of Europe for summer holidays. Archduke Carl Stefan of Austria-Teschen maintained his summer palace here. Today it is quite a cosmopolitan little place with a distinctly multi-ethnic and multi-cultural heritage. It is full of delightful surprises. And it is still a fantastic place in particularly for anyone who suffers of respiratory problems (asthma, bronchitis, pneumonia...). If you are looking for clean and fresh air and lots of walking paths and biking routes alongside the sea and the island than Veli Lošinj is really a must visit place.
Youth Hostel Veli Lošinj is placed in a beautiful villa built in 1889.
Within the three-floors of the villa there are double rooms, three, four and five-bedded rooms. There is a self-service restaurant (with a TV), a bar, Internet corner and a nice tarrace surrounded by a mediterranean garden. In this hostel you will definetely enjoy a nice and happy hostel atmosphere.
This is a relatively small hostel with 50 beds and we reccommend to you to book your bed in advance to avoid dissapointment.
- the hostel is open from May until October -
